Machine Operator

POSITION SUMMARY:  Operate existing and new machinery in our production environment to include [but not limited to] the vertical form filler and automatic tray shrink wrapping machines, perform daily preventive maintenance.  Will need to conduct basic maintenance on machines as well as preventive maintenance. 





  1. Run equipment to meet or exceed standard raw ad packaging material scrap and production rates. 
  2. Set ups machines and changes set ups as required
  3. Makes adjustments to the machines as necessary.
  4. Observes operation to detect malfunctions of the machine.
  5. Clears away damaged product containers.
  6. Keeps work area clean, following SOP’s and GMP’s.
  7. Performs trouble shooting on packaging machines
  8. Communicates with Production Maintenance regarding mechanical problems and repairs.
  9. Checks product specification to ensure correct packaging materials and raw materials are being used and coding is correct.
  10. Continually inspects products to ensure that they are within specification and of high quality i.e. no leaks, proper and accurate lot numbers, monitors and adjust weight control and ensures packages have correct labeling. 
  11. Must work safely at all times and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  12. Maintain cleanliness of warehouse.
  13. Comply with Lancaster Foods LLC policies and procedures.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.


  1. HS Diploma or equivalent.  Bi-lingual [English/Spanish] is desired, but not required. 
  2. Minimum 6 months experience with machines, preferably in a food environment. 
  3. Must be at least 18 years of age.  Must be able to stand and walk for 8 to 10 hours. 
  4. Must demonstrate proficient PC skills.
  5. Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
  6. Must have own transportation.
  7. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include holidays and weekends.


Must be able to, with reasonable accommodations, lift and carry up to 75 pounds, work in temperatures, which range from 34-38 degrees, work in a wet, damp environment, and ability to read/understand warehouse documents. Must wear a hairnet, beard net [if applicable], and a white lab coat at all times in the production part of the warehouse.  Must observe all GMP’s and SOP’s. 


Personal Protective Equipment Required:   Steel Toed Shoes [Lancaster Foods will reimburse up to $50 with a receipt], safety goggles, gloves and your ID badge/timecard. 


Scheduled shift out times may vary and will be addressed at the beginning of the shift or as soon as it is known.  Due to the shift workload, the employee may be sent home earlier or later than scheduled.   All efforts will be made by management to notify the employee as early as possible regarding the shift change.  It is the responsibility of the employee to make any necessary adjustments to accommodate the shift change.
